The project
The building stands at 10 Bank Road in Kingswood.
The building had been recognisable locally for years — for its location and its striking design — and the fresh contemporary façade marked a new chapter for it.
No two homes are the same. Each is unique in outlook, layout and size; the apartments are set over two floors, and eight of the first-floor duplexes have either a mezzanine bedroom or a study area. Common to all of them are generous interiors, open-plan living space and the same specification.
The show home
We designed and styled the show home. The base is pale and quiet — off-whites and soft greys — so the rooms hold the light and read at their full size, with rust, blush and teal brought in as accents.
A conversion gives you quirks, and the styling leans into them instead of ironing them out. A scheme like this will never beat standard new-build stock on regularity, so it competes on character.
Fluted joinery, brass handles and round mirrors run through the apartments, and framed prints are hung as gallery walls. In a converted building where no two rooms match, that is a more forgiving way to dress a wall than a single large piece.
The identity
The name honours what the building used to be — a playful take on its heritage. It is set lowercase, with a line drawing of a switchboard plug beside it, so the mark carries the exchange as well as the name.
Blush, olive, dark brown and cream, arranged as circles and blocks. It is a confident cover for a conversion of this size, and it runs at the same strength across the brochure, the website and the hoarding.
The brochure
A location spread maps Kingswood — its shops and amenities, and the transport links into the city centre of Bristol.
Results
Nine of the 19 units were reserved within the first few months of marketing, with a waiting list for the one-bedroom apartments.
