The project
Studio, one and two-bedroom apartments on a town-centre site at SL1 1JL, with spacious interiors and tall ceilings.
The town around it is a large part of the argument. Slough is in the middle of a £3.5 billion regeneration, at the heart of which is the redevelopment of the town centre by ADIA and British Land, and Crossrail at Slough station has put central London within convenient reach. Kavanagh Place sits in the middle of that, with the shops and amenities of the town centre on its doorstep.
Residents have a communal garden with planting and seating, a concierge, a cinema room and a recreation and studio space. Some apartments have their own private and secluded outdoor space, and secure gated underground parking is available to purchase on request — a rarity this close to the centre of a town.
Layouts and specification
We started with the plans. Layouts were optimised across the scheme, and the interiors were then concepted and specified for every apartment, together with the communal areas inside and out.
The palette is navy and oak with terracotta: deep blue joinery in the kitchens, warm timber underfoot, and rust and blush notes in the upholstery and artwork. The tall ceilings give the rooms their proportion, with black metal-framed glazing and lighting treated as an accent.
The identity
Kavanagh Place is set in a high-contrast serif, stacked over two lines with PLACE letterspaced beneath. The palette is terracotta, blush and warm stone, taken from the interiors rather than invented alongside them.
A single continuous line drawing runs across the covers and the poster artwork, loose enough to read as drawn rather than designed. The mark holds at every size, from a hoarding to a floor plan key.
The brochure carries the line motif across both covers, and the same terracotta and blush run through the website.
The campaign concept
The poster and billboard artwork was produced to show the brand at every size, from a single poster site to a landscape digital billboard: the mark, one interior image, and a line of copy naming what is for sale. It was presented as a concept and never ran.
The marketing suite and show home
We designed the marketing suite in a prominent corner unit, and the show home in the unit next to it. Both were concepted and styled to the same palette, with the interiors shown large enough to be read across a room.
This project was delivered under the Ademchic brand.
