The project
A mixed-use building on a working high street, with the flats sitting directly above the retail.
Ealing Broadway is one of nineteen projects for Luxgrove Homes.
Drawn, then built
The concept turns on one move: a dark band at headboard height, running the width of the room and lit from behind.
The show home
The apartments are pale and warm: chevron flooring, white handleless kitchens with brass, and soft neutral walls. The show home was styled against that rather than into it — dark timber, brown velvet, black metal and olive, so every piece of furniture reads clearly instead of dissolving into the background.
A round dining table in a compact open-plan space, a circular mirror to borrow light from the kitchen, and greenery to break the straight lines. Small decisions, but they are what make a photograph of a one-bedroom flat look like somewhere to live.
